National Convention:

As everyone is aware, the national convention was recently held in Orlando, Fl. Several things of not occurred at the convention. First, Las Vegas, NV was announced as the location for the 2019 national convention. Second, Arizona had 87 participants at the national convention which was the 8th highest in attendance. With next year’s convention taking place in our backyard, there is no way we should not be able to bring significantly more members to Las Vegas.

During the national convention it was announced that we have an agreement with Greyhound Bus Lines, which operates in forty-four of our affiliates, including Arizona. In the coming weeks, we are going to receiving information about the opportunity to participate in our monitoring and to receive a small grant to the affiliate. The first round of testing is scheduled to take place August – October. If you are interested in participating in the evaluation process please email me at
with “Greyhound Evaluation” in the subject line.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
